THE WAR. My brothers were working in the war. One of my brothers was an aviation machinist. My uncle was an officer. In someway a lot of my family was involved with the war. I was merely a young child around nine or ten years old unsure what was going to happen next. I had been assigned to be a “lookout”. They gave me a helmet and I was meant to look for the fire patrol. Us Americans dropped the atomic bomb in Japan and I knew that the war would end soon after that. It was summertime, since it was August and I remember I was with my friends. We were walking around when we heard that the war had finally come to an end on the radio. I remember feeling tremendously happy and excited. I felt thankful to god my prayers had been answered. It was a weird feeling knowing that there wasn’t a war going on anymore. I’m Fred Ludwig and this is my story.
